Ash was pretty clear about his goal for the manifolds; even flow for all cylinders. With the MSPs it's pretty clear that not all cylinders flow evenly, so you're limited by the worst cylinder. Theoretically if you even out the flow you'll be able to tune closer to the edge on all cylinders, not just the one worst.
